Dear Confirmation Candidate and Parents:
Maria and I are reaching out to you to invite you to take part in our virtual preparation session for Confirmation. I know we had originally announced that we would meet at Our Lady of the Atonement Church this weekend but because of the protocols that are demanded on us by the Pandemic we have recorded the session. You can access the session by hitting the yellow button.
The video gives you an opportunity for responding to questions and joining in prayer and watching two videos. There is at the end of the video a Commitment Ceremony that we hope you can prayerfully join in and begin your journey to Confirmation.
We have two booklets for you to pick up from our Parish Office located at 2940 Forest Glade Drive. Please do so at your earliest convenience. Office hours: Mondays 9:00 till 1:00. Tuesday to Friday 9:00 till 4:00. If you have any questions or concerns, we may be reached by phone at: 519-735-6023.
We will keep in touch with you along the way and keep you up to date with information that will help you in your preparation for this important Sacrament.
Yours in Jesus,
Maria Mollica & Father Jim HIggins

Dear Friends:
Hopefully you have received a previous letter from us concerning the Sacrament of Confirmation that we will be celebrating in the new year of 2022. It is our hope that young people consider receiving this important Sacrament and make the decision to be an intentional disciple of Jesus Christ. The Sacrament is open to young people who are presently in Grade 8 or older and have a desire
to be active in their Catholic Faith.
We are asking that you fill out the Registration Form and enroll as a Candidate for Confirmation. The Preparation that is offered to all Candidates will be multi-faceted using state of the art videos as well as interesting discussion. Our original plan was to host in person group sessions. Unfortunately due to restrictions placed on us by COVID we are hosting our first session, which was to take place on
October 23/24 at Our Lady of the Atonement Church, by video. You can access the video through THIS LINK. The second and third sessions will be either streamed or live. We will keep you informed on the plan.
If possible please fill in the Registration Form and return it to the Parish Office at Our Lady of the Atonement Parish. If after office hours, please leave in the mailbox situated under the canopy of the Atonement Family Centre. OR if you live closer to St. John Vianney Church, for your convenience, you may leave the form in the mailbox there or give to Father at Mass.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact either Maria Mollica at (519)735-6023 ext. 23 or Father Jim Higgins at (519)735-6023 ext. 24. This invitation awaits your response. Don’t hesitate !
Yours sincerely,
Father Jim Higgins and Maria Mollica

Dear Parents and Guardians of our 2022 Confirmation Candidates:
What a joy it will be to journey with you, the Parents and Guardians of our young people, as they prepare to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. You are the primary religious educators of your children. It is from your example that your children learn to love God and others, to do good and avoid evil and to grow in the way of their faith. You have embraced the holy task of forming and gradually increasing a spirit of faith in your children, and for that we are grateful. Since the primary faith educators of your children are their parents, we as a Family of Parishes, are here to support parents in forming these young disciples.
We want Confirmation to be more than a rite of passage as it is often seen. We know this time of preparation can be more than that. It must be a life long relationship of discipleship with Jesus and you are being asked to help cultivate this next step in your child’s spiritual journey. The Confirmation program will again this year be a challenge with the ongoing pandemic restrictions. We will have a Saturday and a Sunday afternoon session to accommodate your busy schedules. The sessions will be from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. and a parent is asked to attend with their child. You are to choose attending either the Saturday or the Sunday meeting. When registering please indicate what meeting day you will attend. We will be making use of printed materials as well as videos at our three meetings. There will be a limit to the number of persons we will be able to host at each meeting.
Meeting 1 Saturday, October 23 (1:00 – 3:00) Sunday, October 24 (1:00 – 3:00)
Meeting 2 Saturday, November 20 (1:00 – 3:00) Sunday, November 21 (1:00 – 3:00)
Meeting 3 Saturday, January 15 (1:00 – 3:00) Sunday, January 16 (1:00 – 3:00)
All of the sessions, regardless which parish you attend will take place in the church at Our Lady of the Atonement. There will be a Commitment Service at the end of our First Session on October 23 and 24 at Our Lady of the Atonement Church for the Candidate and their Parent.
Confirmation will take place during the week of February 21 – 25, 2022. We will be keeping you informed as we navigate through this preparation time. Please fill out the registration form and note that you will need to provide a copy of your child’s Baptismal Certificate if your child was not baptized at one of our Churches – Our Lady of the Atonement, St. John Vianney, St. Vincent de Paul, St. Anthony of Padua. If you have any questions or need clarification please do not hesitate to call either Maria at extension 23 or Father Jim at extension 24.
Please return the registration form to our Parish Office or the mailbox at St. John Vianney Church by October 15.
In the name of Jesus,
Our Parish Team:
Father Rob Rocheleau, Father Jim Higgins, Rachelle Leslie and Maria Mollica
